Membership Types

Senior Fellow

Senior Fellowship is the highest grade of membership of the Political Science Association of Zambia. To qualify for senior fellowship, you should be able to provide evidence of successful engagement in all areas of association activities, appropriate knowledge and understanding across all aspects of core knowledge of the discipline, shown commitment to all the professional values; successful engagement in appropriate teaching practices related to the discipline and have a PhD in Political Science. However, the Governing Council can waive the requirement for PhD if an applicant has proven distinguished in political science scholarship.

Fellow

Fellowship is the second highest grade of membership of the Political Science Association of Zambia. This is suitable for early career academics and practitioners in the field of political science.  To qualify for this kind of fellowship, an individual must be able to provide evidence of successful engagement in most areas of association activities, appropriate knowledge and understanding across most aspects of core knowledge of the discipline, shown commitment to all the professional values; successful engagement in appropriate teaching practices related to the discipline and have a Masters’ degree in Political Science. However, the Governing Council can waive the academic requirement if an applicant has proven distinguished in political science scholarship.

Associate Fellow

Associate Fellowship is the third grade of membership of the Political Science Association of Zambia. This is suitable for fresh graduates in political science and early career academics and practitioners in the field of political science.  To qualify for this kind of fellowship, an individual must be able to provide evidence of appropriate knowledge and understanding of the discipline and have a Bachelors’ degree in Political Science. However, the Governing Council can waive the academic requirement if an applicant has proven distinguished in political science scholarship.

Student Fellow

Student Fellowship is the fourth grade of membership of the Political Science Association of Zambia. This is suitable for students of political science in universities and colleges.  To qualify for this kind of fellowship, an individual must be able to provide evidence of appropriate registration in a university in Zambia or in other countries pursuing a programme in political studies.

Public Fellow

Public Membership, suitable for anyone with an interest in politics or political studies, including politicians and civil servants, journalists and third sector workers. This category of membership is also suitable for teachers of civic education, history, social studies, human geography and other social sciences subjects.
