Core Business

The association’s core business is to encourage the scientific study of politics and public policy by provider of world class services in higher education and knowledge generation through efficient and effective utilization of its multidisciplinary human capital. The association also promotes research in the discipline of political science and to nurture teaching regarding principles of good government and citizenship. To do this, the association draws expertise from over 200 experienced political scientists out of which, more than 80 are academic political scientists at local and foreign universities.

Our Background

The Political Science Association of Zambia is the learned, scholarly society which exists to develop and promote the study of politics. It is the leading professional organisation in its field in Zambia, with a wide membership including academics in political science and current affairs, theorists and practitioners, policy makers, researchers and students in higher education. The association is a legally registered under the Societies Act (Cap 119 of the Laws of Zambia) and serves more than 200 academic fellows and members in Zambia. With a range of programs and services, the Association brings together political scientists from all fields of inquiry, regions, and occupational endeavours within and outside academe in order to expand awareness and understanding of local and international politics.

Our Aims

The association also aims at promoting diversification within the discipline and provides challenging and exciting opportunities to both professional political scientists, practitioners and academic political scientists. Through its multidisciplinary human capital, the association participates in many research and consultancy assignments initiated by government, other partners/donors, and universities and by itself. The association also aims at recognizing outstanding contribution to the study of politics and public service through awards program. To achieve this, the association maintains a strong relationship with academic institutions offering political science and its proximate disciplines and continues to establish linkages and collaborations with both international and local higher institutions of learning and corporate organizations.
